Built for artists, by artists
Pearl River created Kayserburg to compete with the finest European pianos. Where the company's other lines are built for value at scale, Kayserburg pianos are made by hand, by a small team of senior craftsmen, with no compromise in materials or process.
That team is led by Stephan Mohler, a Swiss master piano maker who heads production of the Kayserburg Artist series in Guangzhou and has spent more than a decade refining these instruments. The line was developed with input from German piano designer Lothar Thomma, whose scale design work spans several European makers.
The goal is a piano with European tone and touch, a clear, singing voice and precise control, at a price well below comparable European instruments.
The Kayserburg Étoile Collection
Named for the French word for "star," the Étoile Collection turns a Kayserburg piano into a piece of furniture art with rare, exotic wood veneers. Of the more than 90,000 hardwood species in the world, only about 100 are used for fine veneer; Kayserburg selected a handful of the most striking, whose color and figure shift as you move around the piano. The collection was introduced at Music China in Shanghai in 2020.
- Golden Silk PhoebeA lustrous golden wood long prized for fine furniture, carving and architecture.
- East Indian RosewoodConsidered one of the world's most beautiful woods, found in many Asian antiques.
- ZiricoteA Central American wood, reddish to dark brown with pale streaks.
- Sapele MahoganyA rich African mahogany from trees that grow up to 180 feet tall.
- Straight Line EbonyEbony with a straight, linear grain.
- Tiger Striped SandalwoodSandalwood with bold, tiger-like striping.
- Rose Gold SandalwoodSandalwood with a rose-gold cast.
- Green AppleOne of the collection's most unusual veneers; ask to see it in person.

European components, handmade assembly
German Renner action and hammers
Kayserburg uses a Renner action and Renner hammers, the German-made parts found in many of Europe's finest pianos, for a precise, responsive touch.
Röslau strings with copper-wound bass
German Röslau wire and copper-wound bass strings give a clear treble and a warm, resonant bass.
Solid tapered spruce soundboard
A solid spruce soundboard, tapered for freer vibration, carries the tone with depth and sustain.
Dehonit pinblock and ebony sharps
A German Dehonit pinblock holds the tuning pins firmly, helping the piano stay in tune through Arizona's dry air, and the black keys are real ebony wood.
